Answer: Ever since Adam and Eve were exiled from the Garden of Eden, human beings have tried to find their own best form of government. With Satan, their adversary, functioning as the “god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4), it is no surprise that mankind’s best experiments at self-rule have turned disastrous in time.

When Christ returns, He will bring with Him the Kingdom of God. That Kingdom will usher in a time of peace as yet unprecedented here on planet Earth.

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea”  (Isaiah 11:6-9).

Jesus Christ will be King of that Kingdom, assisted by faithful Christians and Old Testament Saints (Hebrews 11:39 – Hebrews 12:2) who have been resurrected as members of God’s Family. What will we be doing? Christ will “have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:10). Also: “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years“ (Revelation 20:6).

For a thousand years, human beings will live in peace and harmony, led by the benevolent and loving rule of their Savior and the resurrected Saints. After that will come the “White Throne Judgment” (Revelation 20), when all those who previously had not had their minds opened to the Truth will have their first opportunity for salvation.

What an amazing future! But that is not all. When all this is done, “heaven” will come to the earth!  The Apostle John wrote: “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (Revelation 21:1-3).

That is what the Bible says!
